A cautionary tale
One of my contacts serviced two of his clients who were in dire straits from March to December 2020, without charging them a single penny!
He did this because he felt it was the right thing to do. He wanted to save them from going under.
Not only did he lose fees to the tune of approximately £15,000, but he also had costs as he had staff to pay.
However, when he was telling me the story, he was upset, not about the money, but because they didn’t once say thank you during the whole 9 months.
I wonder how many other businesses supported clients this way during Covid, who also didn’t appreciate what was being done for them.
Needless to say, I asked him if he would continue to work with them in 2021 he said absolutely not.
This is such a tricky one. He was in a position to help these two clients but he didn’t have to do it.
It does prove what I often say that people don’t value what is free.
