When all the restrictions relating to Covid were lifted in England, I was thrilled skinny.
My freedom means a lot to me and I certainly don’t like being dictated to by anyone.
Then I thought but what restrictions do you impose upon yourself that limit you and your freedom?
Is it:
Oh, I can’t say that because what will they think, whoever they may be?
Or I can’t charge that because the client won’t pay.
Or I daren’t pick up the phone to such and such a person, they are far too important.
Or something else that you know you say to yourself that limits your freedom.
Whatever yours happens to be, it’s just a cotton-picking habit.
Your mind has made up a story which is a fantasy actually that something bad will happen if you say or do whatever it is you’re scared of saying or doing.
The chances are it won’t and even if it does, it really won’t be life-threatening.
You see, we are hard-wired for fear to protect us from physical danger. Yet the subconscious mind does not know the difference between a real physical danger and a vividly imagined one.
Which means if you have some fear-based story going on, you will stop yourself from doing something just in case it doesn’t work out.
What a pity that would be.
Instead switch it around and say to yourself, if I take this action, who may benefit from it. That way you are moving the focus off worrying about yourself to thinking of someone else.
Just a thought.
